Premium Air Systems Hoods are listed per UL 710 and NSF
standard #2, and are built in accordance with NFPA-96 regarding hood
construction and insulated at the rear for clearances to combustibles.
Premium Air Hoods are built in accordance with national code
requirements. Local codes of
reference above national code requirements may indicate additional issues
regarding compliance, and if these are known at the time of your order, we
will work with you to satisfy these requirements.
Verify with your builder/installer the construction of the wall area
behind and adjacent to the hood, because wall construction will greatly
affect how most codes deal with hood requirements.
We recommend that the area behind and adjacent to the hood be
constructed of metal studs and cement fiberboard (such as durarock), which
NFPA #96 for instance considers a limited combustible.
Walls constructed of drywall installed over wood studs are considered
a combustible assembly, which alters the nature of the hood installation for
insulation. Advise Premium Air Systems of your particular job
conditions. Additionally,
Premium Air Systems recommends that you discuss the installation with the
local inspector and establish what is (or is not) acceptable in your area
prior to placing your order. If questions arise in this discussion, feel
free to call Premium Air Systems for advice.
Yes! We do not stock hoods, as each one is custom built to order. If
you need a hood 10’ 3 ¾” left-to-right, we can build that hood and
delivery lead-time is the same as if it were a 10’ hood.
Premium Air
Systems can usually ship your custom built equipment in 10 working days from
receipt of order unless your hood requires specific parts which must be
ordered (i.e. specific size fire damper for supply air). Very large orders
with several hoods may take longer.
Yes, but a separate make-up air unit may not be needed.
HVAC equipment can bring in a percentage of outside air based on unit total
air volume capacity for use as make-up air and depending on exhaust
requirements and total HVAC air volume, there may already be plenty of
make-up air capability existing in your building. If you do need make-up air
Premium Air Systems manufactures a direct fired make-up air unit.
Premium Air Systems manufacture a
natural gas direct fired make-up air unit that is UL listed and can be
applied in various applications. The
unit may be roof mounted, installed on a slab adjacent to the building, or
inside the building. We calibrate the unit up for your specific requirements
(CFM and static pressure). Our small unit, the HV1001, can be ordered with a
single-phase electrical power motor (the larger units require three-phase
electrical power). The make-up air unit tempers, or warms outside air and
distributes the air in the manner specified by you, either through a simple
duct and diffuser system in the kitchen area, or through elaborate duct runs
and multiple diffuser locations. During summer months, the heat function
isn’t active and the unit introduces make-up air into the kitchen at the
current temperature of the outside air.
If air-conditioned make-up air is desired, an option for a factory
installed, integral unit is available.
The exhaust duct must be all liquid tight welded 16
gauge mild steel or 16 gauge galvanized steel, in accordance with local
codes. The ductwork must
maintain the specified code clearance from the construction of the building,
the wall area behind and adjacent to the hood, the ceiling and area above
the ceiling to the roof. Ductwork
must be sized for the amount of exhausted air and within the range code
dictated air velocity, or speed. Clean-outs and direction fittings may be
needed depending on how the duct is run.
For horizontal lengths of ductwork, a quarter inch per foot pitch
must be maintained within the duct to prevent grease accumulation.
The duct must be welded into the hood and at all seams along with at
the curb. Premium Air Systems
can provide ductwork for your specified duct layout requirements.
The
amount of exhausted air, length of duct, and number of turns in the duct all
effect the size exhaust fan needed. Call us and we will be happy to help is
sizing the fan needed.
Sure! We manufacture custom stainless tables, shelves, etc. Premiums
Air Systems will manufacture 16-gauge mild steel all welded duct and
fittings for your hood. We can
provide stainless wall panels, either flat or quilted, for your cooking area
walls. We build custom, give us a call or send us a fax; if we can build
it…we will quote it.
